Well, so, you wanna get into this My Hero Academia thing, huh? It’s all the rage with them youngsters, I hear. Always yellin’ about “quirks” and “smashin’” and whatnot. Sounds like a load of hooey to me, but hey, what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
So, first off, where you gonna read this stuff? I ain’t got no fancy library ’round here. Used to be, you had to go to the store and buy them picture books, but now, them kids are always glued to their phones, reading on the “internet” they call it. Must be cheap, I reckon, ’cause they ain’t got no money to spare, that’s for sure.
- Online: They say you can read it online. Don’t ask me how that works, it’s all magic to me. Something about “apps” and “websites”. Sounds complicated. But they say you can find a whole bunch of chapters there, and even talk to other folks who like the same stuff. Guess it’s like a big ol’ book club, but without the tea and cookies. More likely chips and soda, knowing these kids.
- Viz App or Website: Heard tell there’s this thing called “Viz”. Sounds like a cleaning product to me, but apparently it’s where you can read this My Hero Academia legally. They give you a few days for free, and then you gotta pay, I guess. Like everything else in life, nothin’s free, is it? They say you can read about 80 chapters or so with that free trial. Plenty to get you started, I reckon.
- Buying the Books: Now, this is what I understand. Good ol’ paper and ink. You can go to a bookstore and buy them manga books, they call ’em. They have all them pictures and words, and you can hold ’em in your hand. It’s gonna cost you a pretty penny, though, those books ain’t cheap. But at least you can keep ’em forever, unlike that “internet” stuff, which just disappears into thin air, far as I can tell.
Now, about how long it’ll take you to read all this? Lord knows. There’s a whole heap of chapters, over 350 they say. Depends how fast you read, I guess. If you’re one of them speed-readers, you could probably knock it out in a few days. But if you’re like me, and you gotta sound out every word, it’s gonna take you a while. Maybe a few weeks, maybe a month. No rush, I say. Take your time and enjoy it. Or don’t enjoy it. It’s your business.
So, this My Hero Academia, what’s it all about, you ask? Well, near as I can figure, it’s about these kids with special powers, they call ’em “quirks”. Some can fly, some can shoot fire, some can turn into weird animals. Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me, but the kids seem to like it. It’s all about being a hero and saving people, and friendship and all that good stuff. You know, the kind of thing they teach you in Sunday school, but with more explosions.
Now, is it okay for little kids to read this stuff? Well, I don’t know. They say it’s for ages 12 and up, but you know how kids are. They always wanna watch and read stuff they ain’t supposed to. It’s got some fighting and violence in it, but it’s not too bad, I don’t think. It’s got a good message, about being brave and doing the right thing. But you gotta use your own judgment, I ain’t gonna tell you how to raise your kids. Just make sure they don’t start tryin’ to fly off the roof, that’s all.
So, if you’re lookin’ to get into this My Hero Academia craze, that’s what you need to know. Find it online, read it, and don’t let your kids set themselves on fire. And don’t come cryin’ to me if you don’t like it. I warned you it was a bunch of hooey.
But hey, maybe it’s not so bad. Maybe there’s somethin’ to this whole hero thing. Maybe we all need a little bit of escapism now and then. Go on, give it a try. What have you got to lose? Except maybe a few hours of your time and a few brain cells. But who needs brain cells anyway, right?
Now where did I put my glasses… these words are getting blurry.
