Alright, alright, let me tell ya ’bout this here… thing… in the windmill. Yeah, a windmill. Not the kinda thing you see everyday, especially not with what’s inside.

So, first things first, you gotta find this here windmill. It’s, uh, abandoned, they say. Means nobody’s usin’ it no more. Makes sense, I guess, with that creepy crawly thing inside. They say it ain’t far from some place called Rivington General. Head east, they say. East, like where the sun comes up. You can’t miss it, they say. Big ol’ windmill, standin’ all alone like a sore thumb.

BG3 Mind Flayer in Windmill: Where to Find It and What to Do
  • Find the windmill, east of Rivington General.
  • It’s abandoned, so don’t expect no friendly faces.

Now, the door, it’s locked up tight. Folks these days, always lockin’ things up. Scared of somethin’, I reckon. You gotta be sneaky to get in. Pick the lock, they say, like some kinda thief. Or, if you’re one of them magic users, you can just poof it open. Me? I ain’t got no magic. I’d just bust it down, good ol’ fashioned way. They say the door ain’t strong, made of wood, you know. A good kick or a fire spell, they say, does the trick. Fire Bolt, that’s what they call it. Fancy names for simple things.

Once you’re inside, that’s when things get weird. Down in the basement, you see. Not the kinda basement where you keep potatoes and turnips. This here basement’s got a mind flayer. Yeah, you heard that right. A mind flayer. Sounds like somethin’ outta a nightmare, don’t it?

This ain’t no grown-up mind flayer, though. It’s a baby one, fresh outta the… wherever they come from. Sleepin’ like a baby, they say. But don’t let that fool ya. These things are dangerous. They eat brains, you know. Brains! Just think about that for a minute. Eatin’ someone’s brains. Makes my stomach churn just thinkin’ about it.

Now, this baby mind flayer, it’s hungry. Just like any baby, I guess, but this one don’t want no milk. It wants a corpse. Yeah, a dead body. Told ya it was creepy. You gotta find it somethin’ to eat, or it might just eat you instead. Or, so they say. They say you can kill a townsperson, or find someone who’s already dead, it don’t matter, long as it ain’t breathing.

Some folks, they say you should kill it. Put it outta its misery, they say. Or maybe they just don’t want it eatin’ their brains. Can’t say I blame ’em. But then there’s others, they say you can help it. Feed it, like it’s some kinda pet. A brain-eatin’ pet. Doesn’t sound right to me, but hey, to each their own, I always say. They say if you talk to it a certain way, it might kill ya. Best be careful, is what I say.

So, there you have it. A mind flayer in a windmill. Not somethin’ you see every day, like I said. If you go lookin’ for it, be careful. And don’t forget to bring a corpse. Or maybe a weapon. Just in case. They say it just got its full Illithid body, whatever that means. Sounds nasty though. You gotta watch out. And that’s all there is to it. Just a baby, a windmill, and a whole lotta trouble. It might look harmless sleeping but you never know what could happen, so just be careful. You been warned.

You gotta remember, going down that hatch is your own choice. Nobody’s forcing ya to do nothing. They say it’s easy to find the place, but that don’t mean it’s safe to go in. Just remember everything I said now.
