Well, hello there, young’uns! You wanna know about them animes, like that “Violet Evergarden” thing, huh? Alright, alright, I’ll tell ya what I know. Now, I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I’ve watched a thing or two on that TV thingy, the one with all them colorful pictures.
So, this “Violet Evergarden,” it’s a real tearjerker, they say. About a girl, used to be a soldier, now writin’ letters for folks. Lots of feelin’s and cryin’, from what I hear. If you like that kinda stuff, there’s more where that came from, you betcha.
First off, there’s this “Your Name” movie. Big hit, they say. People switchin’ bodies and all sorts of craziness. And pretty pictures, oh my! Real purdy. It’s got that emotional punch, kinda like “Violet,” but with more… well, body-swappin’.
- Then there’s this “Your Lie in April.” Music and sad stuff. Kids playin’ instruments and gettin’ all emotional. Lots of heartbreak, but beautiful, they tell me. If you liked seein’ Violet cry, you’ll probably like this one too. Prepare for the waterworks, that’s what I say.
- And don’t forget “A Silent Voice.” About a bully and a deaf girl. Real heavy stuff, redemption and all that. Makes you think, you know? Not exactly like “Violet,” but it hits you in the feels just the same. It teaches ya to be a good person, not like them bullies in my village, always stealin’ my eggs.
- Oh, and someone told me about “Kino’s Journey.” A traveler and a talkin’ motorcycle. Sounds weird, huh? But it’s about seein’ the world and meetin’ different folks. Kinda like Violet travelin’ around, writin’ letters, but with more… motorcycles.
Now, I heard some young folks talkin’ about “Plastic Memories.” Robots and love and sadness. If you like robots cryin’, this is your cup of tea. It’s kinda like “Violet” in that it makes you think about love and loss, but with more… robot parts.
And then there’s this “Ancient Magus’ Bride” thing. Magic and weird creatures. I never understood magic, but the kids these days like it. Someone said this has a similar feel to Violet, with a slow burn and some emotional parts. A girl and a scary looking man, but good and kind, someone said. Sounds kind like the General, you see, that man in Violet Evergarden is kind even after being hurt badly.
Some folks also mentioned “Fruits Basket.” Another one with lots of feelin’s. Family and curses and all that. If you like a good cry and some family drama, this might be for you. I heard those kids turn into animals sometimes, what’s with these animes having strange people? That Violet girl was also strange with those metal arms of hers.
And if you just want somethin’ pretty to look at, like them fancy flowers in my garden, there’s “The Garden of Words.” Rain and pretty pictures. Not much story, but it’s nice to watch. Short and sweet, like a good piece of candy. It’s not exactly like “Violet” in terms of story, but it has that same beautiful animation and emotional tone.
So there you have it, a whole bunch of animes like that “Violet Evergarden.” Some sad, some happy, some just plain weird. But they all got somethin’ to make you feel, just like that girl with the metal arms. Now go on and watch somethin’, and leave this old lady to her soaps. I tell ya, them soap operas got more drama than all them animes put together!
So you young people go on and watch these shows. Maybe you’ll like ’em, maybe you won’t. But at least you’ll have somethin’ to talk about with them other young’uns. And that’s important, you know, havin’ somethin’ in common. Just like us old folks talkin’ about the weather and whose chickens ain’t layin’ eggs. It’s all the same, just different words and pictures. You kids with your animes, and me with my soaps, we all just lookin’ for a little somethin’ to pass the time and make us feel somethin’. Now go on, get outta here and watch your shows, I need to go feed those chickens.
