Alright, let’s talk about this Baldur’s Gate 3 thing, the Zhentarim and the Guild, you know? It’s like choosing between a rock and a hard place, both ain’t no good, but you gotta pick one.
Zhentarim or Guild, Who to Choose?
Now, this Baldur’s Gate 3, it ain’t my first rodeo with these games. I heard tell it’s the third one, and they use them Dungeons and Dragons rules. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like fancy stuff to me. But the story, that’s what gets ya. And this choice, Zhentarim or Guild, that’s a real head-scratcher.
First off, you got this Nine-Fingers Keene and her Guild. They say she’s like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and… well, maybe not giving to the poor, but keepin’ it for themselves mostly. They call her “lawful evil,” which sounds like somethin’ my ol’ man used to say about the tax collector. She and her gang, they ain’t angels, that’s for sure. They’re tough, rough around the edges.
Then you got the Zhentarim. Now, them fellas, they’re a shady bunch. Some say they’re “neutral evil,” some say “chaotic evil,” whatever that means. All I know is, they’re lookin’ out for number one, and Baldur’s Gate is just a big ol’ money bag to them. They’ve been the bad guys in them Forgotten Realms stories for ages, so you know they ain’t to be trusted.
The Fight and the Loot
Now, if you’re lookin’ for an easy fight, the Guild’s the way to go. They got more folks, and Nine-Fingers herself, she’s a tough cookie. Stronger than a whole bunch of them Zhents put together. You can whoop ‘em pretty good, even if you ain’t got much fight in ya.
- Guild: Easier fight, more people, Nine-Fingers is strong.
- Zhentarim: Tougher fight, fewer people, but sneaky maybe?
And the loot, that’s important too. You beat the Zhentarim leader, and you get a whole heap of gold, like 10,000 pieces or somethin’. That’s enough to buy a whole lotta chickens, I tell ya. The Guild, they don’t give you that much, but maybe they got other ways of payin’ you back.
What Happens Later?
Now, here’s the thing. Even if you wipe out them Zhentarim in that hideout, they ain’t really gone. You’ll see ’em again later, in Act Two and Three. They’re like weeds, keep poppin’ up no matter how many times you pull ’em out. Some of them, like this Phase fella, they got their own plans.
So, you gotta think long term. Do you want the quick and dirty win with the Guild, or do you wanna mess with the Zhentarim, knowing they’ll come back to haunt ya? It’s a tough call, like deciding whether to butcher the pig now or wait till it’s fatter.
My Two Cents
If you ask me, and nobody ever does, I’d say go with the Guild. They might be criminals, but they’re the kinda criminals you can deal with. They’re straight up, mostly. The Zhentarim, they’re too slippery, too sneaky. And that extra gold, well, that don’t hurt none. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there in Baldur’s Gate, and you gotta look out for yourself. Pick the side that gets you ahead, that’s what I always say.
But hey, it’s your game. You do what you think is right, or what’s fun, or what gets you the most gold. Just don’t come cryin’ to me if it all goes sideways.
In short:
- Guild: Easier fight, decent reward, maybe less trouble down the road.
- Zhentarim: Harder fight, big gold reward, but them Zhents are trouble, you just wait and see.
So there you have it, my take on this whole Zhentarim and Guild mess. Hope it helps ya, and if it don’t, well, can’t say I didn’t try.
