Well, let me tell ya ’bout this rat thing in BG3, or whatever you young folks call it. It’s a game, right? My grandkids, they play it all the time, and I watch ’em sometimes. This Shar place, it’s got rats, lots of ’em, seems like.
So, what’s the big deal with these rats? From what I gather, they ain’t just regular rats. They’re part of some quest, a kinda job you gotta do in the game. And this Shar, she’s a goddess or somethin’, and she’s all dark and mysterious. Like that old crow that used to sit on the fence post back home, always watchin’ ya.
- First off, you gotta talk to these rats. Yep, you heard that right, talk to ’em! But you need some kinda magic, “speak with animals” they call it. It’s like understandin’ what the chickens are cluckin’ about, I guess.
- These rats, they’re scared. Somethin’s down there, in the dark, and it’s after them. They ain’t botherin’ nobody, just tryin’ to survive. Reminds me of them stray dogs we used to have, always scroungin’ for food.
- Now, some folks say you gotta kill all the rats. Every last one. Seems kinda mean, don’t it? But that’s how these games are, I reckon. Kill or be killed.
- But if you miss one, or if it disappears before you can talk to it, well, then you gotta deal with this Yurgir fella. He’s tough, they say. Like that old bull we had, stubborn as a mule. You gotta fight him to finish the quest. Or you can just skip it altogether, steal what you need, and be done with it. Like takin’ the last piece of pie when nobody’s lookin’.
This quest, it’s all about choosin’, see? Do you help the rats, or do you kill ’em? Do you fight Yurgir, or do you sneak around him? It’s like life, I guess. Always gotta make choices, some easy, some hard.
And then there’s this Nightsong. She’s important, real important. Shar wants her sacrificed, and Shadowheart, she’s all set to do it. But you, you can decide. Let Nightsong live, and Shadowheart might not be too happy. Let her die, and well, Shadowheart becomes, I don’t know, meaner, I guess. Like that old Mrs. Henderson down the road, always complainin’ ’bout somethin’.
It’s a complicated story, this BG3 thing. Lots of characters, lots of choices. And these rats, they’re just a small part of it. But they matter, see? Everything matters in the end. Like that little button on your shirt, you lose it, and the whole thing falls apart.
So, if you’re playin’ this game, pay attention to the rats. Listen to what they gotta say. Maybe they’ll help you, maybe they won’t. But they’re part of the story, and that’s what counts. Just like that old well in the back field, it’s got its own story to tell, if you just listen.
Speaking of choices and quests, there’s this Karlach girl too. She’s another one of them characters with her own story. From what I hear, she’s got some fire in her belly, literally. She’s got her own problems, her own demons to fight. Kinda like how we all got our own troubles to deal with, ain’t it?
BG3, it’s like a big ol’ pot of stew. You got your rats, your Nightsong, your Yurgir, your Shadowheart, your Karlach, and a whole bunch of other folks thrown in together. And you, you’re the cook. You gotta decide what goes in, what stays out, and how it all tastes in the end. And sometimes, you just gotta throw in some extra salt, even if you don’t know why.
So, that’s the story of them rats in Shar’s place, as best as I can tell ya. It ain’t easy bein’ a rat, or a hero, or even just an old woman watchin’ her grandkids play their fancy games. But life goes on, and you just gotta keep on keepin’ on, rats and all.
