Alright, let’s talk about this stereotype anime stuff, you know? I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I watch some of them cartoons with the grandkids sometimes, and even I can see some things are always the same.
First off, them “otaku” folks they talk about. Sounds like a fancy word, but from what I gather, it’s just folks who really, really like them picture books and moving picture shows, even when they’re all growed up. Like, really like ’em. They say these folks are sometimes a bit… odd. You know, not good at talkin’ to people, always hidin’ in their rooms. Reminds me of old Mr. Henderson down the road, always fussin’ over his stamp collection and never comin’ out for the town picnic.
Now, in them lovey-dovey shows, the romance ones? It’s always the same darn thing! The boy sees the girl, boom! He’s in love. Or the girl sees the boy, boom! She’s head over heels. Don’t matter if there’s someone nicer, smarter, or just plain better around. Nope, it’s gotta be the first one they see. Makes no sense to me. Back in my day, you got to know a fella before you started moonin’ over him! You looked at how hard he worked, and how he treated his mama.
- Always the same characters: You got the loudmouth, always yellin’ and carryin’ on. You got the quiet one, always mopin’ in the corner. You got the super smart one, knowin’ everything and makin’ everyone else feel dumb. And don’t forget the pretty one, always gettin’ all the attention. It’s like they got a checklist and just fill in the blanks, you know? It’s like when you bake a cake always got flour, sugar and eggs ain’t it?
- Crazy hair and big eyes: I swear, some of them haircuts look like they got caught in a tornado! And the eyes! They’re bigger than saucers! I guess it’s so they can show all them emotions, but it just looks silly to me. Like them blowfish down at the market. They got bigger eyes than their stomachs.
- Powers and fightin’: Seems like everyone in these shows can shoot lasers outta their hands or fly around like birds. And there’s always some big bad guy they gotta fight. It’s all bang, boom, pow! Gets kinda tiresome after a while, if you ask me. My joints already hurt, I don’t need to watch all that jumping and running around.
They also got these bad guys, the villains. And boy, are they somethin’ else! Some are just mean and want to watch the world burn. Others think they’re doing the right thing, but they’re just twisted in the head. Like that fella on the news always talkin’ about how he’s gonna save us all but just wants more power for himself.
Speaking of bad guys, the list they give is somethin’ else. I don’t know half of them, but they sure sound like a mean bunch. They say a good story needs a good villain, but sometimes I think they go a bit overboard. Too much screamin’ and carryin’ on for my taste. Give me a good old-fashioned western any day.
But I guess that’s what makes it stereotype anime, right? It’s all these things put together, these characters and stories you see over and over again. Some folks like it, some folks don’t. Me? I’ll stick to my soap operas, thank you very much. At least them folks look like real people, and they got real problems, not just savin’ the world all the time. But hey, to each their own, I always say. If them young folks wanna watch cartoons with big eyes and crazy hair, that’s their business. Just don’t expect me to understand it all.
In conclusion, this stereotype anime thing is full of the same old stuff. Superfans, weird love stories, and characters that all act the same. It’s got its good points, I guess, but it ain’t for me. I like things a little more down to earth, you know? But hey, that’s just my two cents. You young folks can watch whatever you want, just don’t forget to eat your vegetables and get some fresh air every now and then.
And one more thing: If you see someone who likes this stuff, don’t go judgin’ them. They ain’t hurtin’ nobody. Just let ‘em be, and maybe they’ll leave you alone to watch your stories too.
